The Little Bookstore Built with Faith, Trust, and Pixie Dust

Peter Pan once told me, “Do you know why swallows build in the eaves of houses? It is to listen to the stories.”

Long before we opened this bookshop, and long before  Peter ever came to my window my mother read the most wonderful stories to my brothers and me about grand adventures. Let's be honest, for many a young girl, stories are our true first love... I loved the stories my mother read with all my heart, and was forever enamored by the beautiful wrappings they came in. Now, when I say wrappings I am, of course, talking about book covers -- but stories are such a gift that I have a hard time thinking of "book covers" any other way.

After all of our adventures in Neverland, upon our return, John, Michael, and I felt called to be the curators and caretakers of the great stories that are found within books. This is a calling we take very seriously even though many may see us as merely fictional characters.

Of course, starting out, there were many naysayers who told us that it would be impossible to compete against big brick 'n' mortar stores, and online behemoths that offer everything-- including kitchen sinks. We suppose those would be the same people who would not believe a band of lost boys could stand a chance against and a cunning pirate and his crew, let alone win.

You, my dear friend, having found us...must know that we are sincere in our dedication to preserve and pass on the magic and joy that is found in finding, reading, (often re-reading) and giving a wonderful book.

Thank you for believing in us.

Your Friend in books,

-Wendy Darling
